Pi Coin on OKX: what works, what it costs, who can use it

OKX was one of the first venues to open PI trading and is on Pi's KYB list. Here are the fees, verification, licences and the Asian markets where it will not serve you.

OKX is the exchange most readers mean when they type “pi coin okx”. It opened PI trading on the day Pi’s Open Network launched, publishes step-by-step deposit instructions for Pi users, and appears on Pi’s own list of verified businesses. It is also unavailable, by its own statement, in several of the Asian markets this site covers. This review sets out what we could verify on 12 October 2026 and flags what we could not.

How PI arrived on OKX

The sequence matters because it shows OKX treating PI as a real, withdrawable token rather than a promise.

  • 12 Feb 2025 — OKX opened PI deposits at 02:45 UTC.
  • 20 Feb 2025 — call auction 07:00 to 08:00 UTC, then PI/USDT spot trading at 08:00 UTC. For the first five minutes there were no market orders and a US$10,000 per-order cap.
  • 21 Feb 2025 — withdrawals opened at 10:00 UTC.
  • Oct 2025 — Pi’s MiCA white paper, filed by PiBit Ltd, names OKCoin Europe, an MFSA-licensed venue, as the initial EU admission venue. We could not confirm from OKX’s own pages how that entity relates to the OKX exchange you use.
  • 5 May 2026 — Pi/USDT spot opened for OKX United States at 7:00 AM PST. The US page warns some products are unavailable by state.

A May 2026 report from Whale Alert says OKX also added a US dollar pair; we could not confirm that on OKX’s own page, so we do not rely on it. Aggregators put PI’s 24-hour volume across every venue near US$2.9 million, so expect shallow order books and wide spreads whatever the exchange. For background on the token itself, read what Pi Coin is and the supply picture.

Fees and order rules

ItemWhat OKX states
Spot fee, Regular tier0.0800% maker, 0.1000% taker (assets under US$100,000 or 30-day volume under US$1,000,000), effective 14 Aug 2026
EEA spot-only accountsDifferent schedule; search results suggested 0.200% / 0.350%, with a cut announced, but we could not confirm it on OKX’s page
P2P“No service fee for trading P2P”; fiat limited to your registered-region currency
Fiat on-rampExpress Buy and fiat deposit exist; availability varies by region

OKX says not every pair is available in every jurisdiction, so the 0.08 per cent figure is a reference point, not a promise for your account. Compared with the other three exchanges we review, OKX’s maker rate sits between Bitget’s flat 0.1 per cent and MEXC’s 0 per cent, and its taker rate matches Bitget and Gate’s. Use limit orders: on a US$2.9 million-a-day market, a market order can cost more in slippage than the entire fee.

KYC: what OKX asks for

OKX’s own guide to buying Pi says to complete identity verification before you buy. We did not find a published per-level limit for PI specifically, and withdrawal caps depend on the verification level shown in your account. Expect to provide a government ID and a liveness check. This is OKX’s verification, separate from Pi’s own KYC, which you only need if you plan to move PI between a Pi Wallet and the exchange; see the Pi KYC guide.

Where OKX works in Asia

OKX’s risk and compliance disclosure, read on 12 October 2026, is the reference. It lists restricted locations “at this time” that include Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia, among others, and says services may be restricted in South Korea for derivatives and P2P.

MarketWhat OKX’s page saysOther things to know
Hong KongRestricted locationSFC-licensed platforms are a separate set; see the Hong Kong guide
JapanRestricted locationNo PI on the FSA register; see Japan
South KoreaDerivatives and P2P may be restrictedSpot status not stated; see Korea

ThailandNot mentionedThai SEC announced a block of OKX from 28 June 2025; execution unverified; see Thailand
MalaysiaRestricted locationFive exchanges are SC-registered; see Malaysia

Absence from OKX’s list is not permission. In Indonesia and Thailand, regulators have acted independently of OKX’s disclosure, according to secondary press reports we could not check against the regulators’ own notices. The broader picture is on the regulation overview.

Licences, in OKX’s own words

OKX states that OKX Europe Limited is authorised as a MiCA crypto-asset service provider by the Malta Financial Services Authority (27 January 2025), that OKX Middle East Fintech FZE holds a VARA virtual asset licence in Dubai (reference VL/23/12/003), and that OKX SG Pte. Ltd. is a Major Payment Institution under the Monetary Authority of Singapore. These are exchange statements. We have not checked the ESMA, VARA or MAS register entries, and you should do so on the registers themselves (MAS financial institutions directory, VARA). None of these licences is a licence to serve Hong Kong, Japan or Malaysia, where OKX lists restrictions.

Pros and cons

What works
  • On Pi’s KYB list; PI deposits and withdrawals have been open since February 2025.
  • Documented deposit instructions, including a memo-free M address.
  • Low base spot fee and fee-free P2P, per OKX.
  • Several stated licences in Europe, Dubai and Singapore.
What does not
  • Restricted in Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia; limited in Korea.
  • Regulators in Indonesia and Thailand have reportedly acted against it.
  • Thin PI liquidity; early listing limits show how volatile it was.
  • Fee tiers and EEA rates change; the fee page is the only authority.

Risks specific to OKX

Account closure is the largest practical risk: if you register from a restricted country or through a VPN and are later identified, access can be cut while PI is inside the account. Counterparty risk is the ordinary exchange kind; we found no proof-of-reserves statement tied to PI in the sources we read. Deposit errors are the third: a wrong network or an unwanted memo can strand funds, which is why OKX’s guide tells Pi users to paste an M-prefixed address and leave the memo blank. Price risk is separate again: PI traded around US$0.082 on 12 October 2026, about 97 per cent below its US$2.98 peak of February 2025 (CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko).

How to buy PI on OKX

  1. Check that your country is not on OKX’s restricted list and that you are not relying on a VPN to get around it.
  2. Register and complete identity verification, as OKX’s Pi guide instructs.
  3. Fund the account: card or bank via Express Buy or fiat deposit where offered, P2P in your registered currency, or USDT sent from another wallet. See the buying guide for routes and costs.
  4. Open the PI/USDT spot market and place a limit order.
  5. To move PI out, withdraw to a Pi Wallet only if you are KYC-verified and migrated; the transfer guide explains address formats and the 14-day pending period. To cash out, follow the selling guide.
Not served by OKX in your country?A separate IOU-style route exists, with verification required and no assumption that it withdraws to Pi Mainnet.
Check the rate

If OKX is closed to you, remember the exchange hub lists every venue we have checked. The only IOU-style alternative we have reviewed is CEX.IO, which is not on Pi’s KYB list; the exchanges page sets out its caveats. For comparison with another large venue, read the Bitget review.

Quick answers

Is Pi Coin listed on OKX?

Yes. OKX opened PI/USDT spot trading on 20 February 2025 after a call auction, enabled withdrawals on 21 February 2025, and listed Pi/USDT for OKX United States users from 5 May 2026. OKX is also on Pi Network's KYB list, checked 12 October 2026.

How do I deposit Pi from the Pi Wallet to OKX?

OKX's guide says to choose Deposit, then PI, copy the address (it starts with M), and in Pi Browser use Wallet, Pay, then Manually Add Wallet Address. OKX says to leave the memo empty. You must be KYC-verified and migrated first, and a small test transfer is sensible.

What does OKX charge to trade PI?

OKX's fee notice effective 14 August 2026 gives the Regular tier 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker on spot, for assets under US$100,000 or 30-day volume under US$1 million. EEA accounts may have a different schedule, so check your own fee page.

Can I use OKX in Hong Kong, Japan or Malaysia?

OKX's risk and compliance disclosure lists Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia as restricted locations. It says services may be restricted in South Korea for derivatives and P2P. Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand are not mentioned there, though local regulators have taken their own steps.

How do I sell Pi Coin on OKX?

Deposit PI to your OKX account, place a PI/USDT sell order (a limit order is cheaper in a thin book), then withdraw USDT or sell it for local currency through P2P, which OKX says carries no service fee. Fiat options depend on your registered region.
